Hard Rock Cafe

2008.11.27-12.1

I went to Saipan with Aya (Who is one of my high school friends and she went to Vietnam with me as you know from my old post). At one of nights in Saipan, we had a dinner at Hard Rock Cafe.

Hard Rock Cafe is a chain of theme restaurants founded in 1971 in London, and now, there are 150 Hard Rock in 53 countries.

The interior design in corporates combination of American diner and rock. Each Hard Rock Cafe has own original goods and local humberger, and this is the reason why this cafe is often crowded with tourists.

We had enjoyed the very American heaavy humberger, and also the performance by the rock artist. We danced with the performer and other customers.
In Japan, there are 7 Hard Rock Cafe at Roppongi, Ueno, yokohama, Narita, Universal Citywalk Osaka, Osaka, and Fukuoka. I want to the entertainment there again.

The restaurant motto are, "Love All, Serve All", "Save the Planet," "All Is One," "Humanity Is International," and "Music For life."

Have you been there?

Dropped Food!!

If you drop that a rice ball at lunch,
what do you do?
Do you pick it up, and keep on eating?
Or you forget the rice ball?

When I was child, my mother often say, if you pick up the dropped food within 5 seconds, it's still safe to eat. Honestly, I sometime still use the 5 second rule even though I know the rule has no fundation, and it's well-advised not to eat a dropped food.

But, I was surprised that there is 30 seconds rule in other contries. Do you feel that eating dropped food which is picked up after 30 seconds is still safe to eat? I think the dropped food culture is common in the world, and would be interesting to know more, so I reserched it.

According to a food scientist, Paul Dawson, atClemson University, maintains that people should use a zero-second rule not 5 or 30 rule because bacteria can live for several weeks on a dry floor and move into a doropped food in less than a second.

However, there is also opposition to this opinion. Students at Connecticut College did an experiment with apple slices and Skittles. They found that bacteria did not move on the a
pples for at least one minute, and Skittles for at least five minutes.

Now, what will do for a dropped food?

Vietnam Trip -2008.9

3 years ago, I visited Vietnam with my high school friend, Aya. We often travel abroad together, and Vietnam was first place we visit together. This time, I will share to you my food memory with Vietnam.

When you think of Vietnam food, you could imagine Pho, which is Vietnam rice noodle soup. Nowadays, Pho is loved by people from all over the world. In Japan, you can find a Vietnam restaurant easily, and also in America, I met a lot of people who love Pho. Pho was served with lime, and I really liked the taste. It seemed healthy and light. I guess Japanese people tend to like it.

Also, Vietnam coffee was so impressive for me. In Vietnam. people typically enjoy coffee with sweetened condensed milk. It was first time for me to have a cup of coffee with condensed milk because I don't like sweetened coffee so much. However, I really liked it. If you have never tried it, Please have it! :) I think it is not good to have the Vietnam coffee with a piece of sweetened cake because the coffee already sweet enough as you know. I still remember that I couldn't finish the cheese cake that you can see at the picture below. I guess I have never left sweets except that time.

If you have an interest of Vietnam food, please try them.
And, if you find a good one, let me know:)
